The Riley Car Club of NZ, Inc.

The 66 th National Rally of the Club was held in Christchurch between Monday 9th and Friday 13th
March 2026. 40 members and partners attended in 13 Riley cars and various moderns. The rally was
centred around Christchurch City. The emphasis was on social activities. For out of town members
the runs between venues were designed to show case the tremendous progress that has been made in
the city post earthquake.

After collecting the Rally Program at he Racecource Hotel Lodge in Upper Riccarton we introduced
ourselves and settled down to catching up over drinks and a meal. The next day involved driving to
Kaiapoi for a lunch cruise about the ‘River Queen” up the Kaiapoi River, afternoon coffee in nearby
cafes and back to an evening meal at the Hornby Club.

Wednesday morning started with coffee the Oderings Nursery on Cashmere Road and a short drive
over the Port Hills to Sumner for lunch and visit to a newly open “collectables” museum. The
afternoon was spent at the Vintage Car Club rooms for some driving tests and evening meal
organised by our keen spouses.

Next morning we assembled at one of our members very extensive Music and Car collection for
morning tea and peoples choice judging of the Riley Cars. The afternoon was free time with
suggestions to visit the Wigram Air Force Museum and city centre. The AGM, prizegiving,and final
dinner was held in the evening at the Riccarton Racecourse Park Function Centre.

For those who were able to stay on a post rally was organised to Akaroa.
So ended another successful well organised rally facilitating the “Riley Family” to get together once
again and enjoy each other company.
